The Gombe State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), and his police orderly, Sergeant Adamu Husaini, have died in a tragic motor accident.
The announcement was made by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
The crash occurred along the Malam Sidi-Gombe road as the men returned from Maiduguri, Borno State, where the Commissioner had attended a regional consultation on the development of a National Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration (DDR) programme.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating that the late Commissioner was a dedicated public servant.
“Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd) will be remembered as a pillar of discipline, courage and selfless service. He carried out his duties with unmatched diligence and a deep sense of responsibility,” Governor Yahaya said.
The Governor described the death as a “monumental loss”, acknowledging the Commissioner’s vital role in consolidating peace and security in Gombe State.
Governor Yahaya also offered his condolences to the family of Sergeant Adamu Hussaini, noting both men “died in active service to the state and the nation.”
The Commissioner’s driver, who sustained injuries in the crash, is currently receiving treatment.
The schedule for the funeral prayer was not announced at time of press.
