Her Excellency, Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, the First Lady of Gombe State, has launched the distribution of food palliatives to vulnerable groups and associations across the state.
This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Zahrah Umar Adamu, SSA to Gombe State Governor on media, Office of the First Lady.
According to the statement, the palliative aims to alleviate economic hardship during the holy month of Ramadan.
The First Lady presented essential food items, including rice, cooking oil, and pasta, to representatives from the 11 local government areas, religious organisations, people living with disabilities, the All Progressives Congress (APC) executive, and the Association of People with Sickle Cell at the banquet hall of the Government House, Gombe State.
“This support is designed to assist beneficiaries and their families, allowing them to concentrate on their important religious obligations during this sacred period,” the First Lady stated during the distribution.
She encouraged all beneficiaries to continue praying for the prosperity of the state, the sustenance of peaceful coexistence, and for the government to remain on the path of progress.
“Let us all remember the ‘Every Home a Garden’ competition,” she reminded the women of the state.
“I urge all women to cultivate gardens in their homes to provide for their families.”
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Comrade Binta Bello, Chairman of Shongom Local Government, and Eglah Idris, Chairman of Billiri Local Government, expressed their gratitude to the Governor and the First Lady for their support, which they said would significantly assist those in need during the fasting period. They pledged to ensure the judicious distribution of the items.
Aisha Muhammad, representing people living with disabilities, expressed her appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for establishing the Disability Commission.
“This commission is a testament to the governor’s commitment to promoting education, healthcare, and the overall well-being of persons living with disabilities in the state,” she remarked.
The distribution of these palliatives underscores the Gombe State Government’s commitment to supporting its most vulnerable citizens during Ramadan, fostering a spirit of community and compassion.
