The Gombe State Government has solidified its commitment to maintaining peace and security by handing over 50 operational and surveillance vehicles to various security agencies.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs) Government House, Gombe.
The move, accompanied by a ‘Show of Force’ exercise, aims to demonstrate the state’s readiness to combat crime and ensure the safety of its citizens.
The handover, which followed the recent 2nd Gombe State Security Summit, was announced by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd).
“These vehicles are now in the hands of our dedicated security agencies,” Col. Bello stated. “They will be deployed immediately to safeguard lives and property throughout Gombe State.”
Col. Bello praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, for his unwavering dedication to security. “Gombe State’s peace is not a coincidence,” he said.
“It is the result of Governor Yahaya’s deliberate and consistent efforts. He understands that peace is the bedrock of development.”
He highlighted that security agencies had consistently expressed concerns regarding logistical and mobility challenges.
“The Governor’s response was unprecedented,” Col. Bello remarked.
“Providing 50 fully equipped vehicles is a first in the 29-year history of Gombe State. This intervention clearly demonstrates his commitment to equipping our security forces.”
The ‘Show of Force’ exercise, conducted by the security agencies, was designed to reassure the public and deter criminal activity.
“This exercise sends a strong message to criminals that we are prepared to neutralise any threat to our peace,” Col. Bello affirmed.
“Residents can move about freely, knowing that our security operatives are vigilant and proactive.”
ACP Ibrahim Bappah (rtd), Director-General of the Gombe State Security, Traffic, and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC), echoed these sentiments. “All security outfits, federal and local, have received their vehicles,” he said.
“We are committed to using them effectively to reciprocate Governor Inuwa’s generous support.”
The vehicle handover comes on the heels of the 2nd Gombe State Security Summit, where Governor Yahaya’s leadership and security strategy were widely commended.
The summit, themed ‘Building a Safer and More Secure Gombe State: Addressing Insecurity Through Collective Action,’ underscored the state’s collaborative approach to maintaining peace and fostering economic development.
