The Gombe State Police Command has announced a comprehensive security plan to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration for residents across the state.
In a press release issued on March 29, 2025 by DSP Buhari Abdullahi for Commissioner of police Bello Yahaya, the Command outlined its strategies to maintain law and order during the festive period.
To bolster security, the police have deployed a significant number of officers to key locations, including Eid prayer grounds, markets, recreational centres, and major roads.
These officers will conduct armed anti-crime patrols and intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations at entry and exit points to prevent criminal activities.
“To enhance safety during the festivities, the Command has deployed a robust security presence across the state,” the statement stated.
The Command has also implemented measures for crowd control at prayer grounds and other gathering venues to prevent disorder, while plainclothes officers and intelligence units will conduct surveillance to identify and address potential security threats proactively.
The statement also revealed that traffic management will be handled in collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
Furthermore, the police will collaborate with other security agencies, including the military and civil defence, to ensure a coordinated response to any security challenges.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all residents during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations,” the press release emphasised.
