In an effort to promote peace and empower young people, the Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Usman, has launched a new program in collaboration with the Thrive Trek Entrepreneurship Centre with aims to reintegrate former members of the Kalare Boys, a group known for criminal activity, back into society.
Yankalare, are political thugs allegedly used by politicians in Gombe state to intimidate opponents during elections and other political activities.
The program was officially launched at the Gombe State Police Command Headquarters with a ceremony attended by government officials and religious leaders.
The Kalare Boys have expressed remorse for their past actions and a willingness to rebuild their lives.
The Commissioner of Police emphasized the importance of rehabilitation and reintegration in creating a safer community.
The program will provide education, vocational training, and mentorship to equip the Kalare Boys with the skills they need to be successful.
The Gombe State Police Command is committed to working with communities to promote peace and understanding. This new program is a significant step towards achieving those goals.
