The Gombe State Government has vehemently denied claims by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Acting Chairman of an alleged altercation involving Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at an airport, labelling the accusations as “a lie from the pit of hell” and “baseless propaganda.”
“There was absolutely no confrontation or assault at the airport involving the Governor, absolutely none!” declared Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs) of the Government House, Gombe on Monday.
“This is a fabricated story created from the depths of your wildest imagination.”
The government’s statement comes in response to claims made by the SDP Acting Chairman, who alleged a confrontation with Governor Yahaya.
Misilli dismissed these claims as an attempt at “cheap blackmail” and a desperate bid for attention. “It is unfortunate that the SDP Acting Chairman in Gombe resorts to making up falsehoods to gain attention,” he stated.
“We urge the public to disregard these misleading claims.”
Misilli further criticised the SDP’s conduct, urging them to engage in “constructive politics” rather than “wasting time on unfounded drama.”
“Gombe State deserves better than this kind of divisive narrative and shenanigans,” he asserted.
“We encourage the SDP to wake up from this fantasy.”
The government’s forceful denial underscores the escalating tensions between the ruling party and the opposition in Gombe State, with both sides trading accusations and counter-accusations.
The public is now left to weigh the conflicting narratives and determine the veracity of the claims.
