Gombe State is poised to become a leader in affordable housing and urban development in Nigeria’s Northeast region.

This follows the announcement by the federal government to establish a building materials manufacturing hub in the state and include it in a comprehensive slum upgrade and urban renewal program.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, during a courtesy visit to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

The visit coincided with the 13th Meeting of the National Council on Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, which is currently being held in Gombe.

The minister emphasized that the new Building Materials Manufacturing Hub aims to stimulate local production, reduce construction costs, and ultimately make housing more affordable for residents of Gombe State and the entire Northeast region.

In addition to the manufacturing hub, Gombe State has been selected as one of the pilot states for the “Renewed Hope Housing Estate” initiative.

The state is currently constructing 250 housing units under this program, which is expected to be completed by December 2024.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the minister for choosing Gombe State for these significant projects.

He assured that the state government is fully committed to making Gombe a hub of economic and industrial activity in the Northeast.

The Governor highlighted the state’s ongoing efforts in urban planning and development, including the establishment of the Gombe Geographic Information System (GOGIS) and the Gombe State Urban Planning Development Authority (GOSUPDA).

These agencies are working to streamline land management, enforce urban development regulations, and promote sustainable urban development.
