Gombe United FC became the first team to be relegated from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) this season, after losing 2-0 to Sunshine Stars of Akure at Pantami Stadium on Sunday.

The team’s struggles throughout the season were evident, with a string of defeats leaving them at the bottom of the league table.

While the result against Sunshine Stars secured their relegation, Gombe United’s fate was most likely sealed by a series of earlier poor performances.
