Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, flagged off the Akuyam-Gwaram-Hardawa road project on Wednesday, part of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAM).

The project aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods and shifting macroeconomic indices in favour of rural communities.

The project, worth over N23 billion, covers 115 kilometres across three senatorial districts, with five rural road projects awarded to three contractors.

Governor Bala assured that his administration will provide connectivity for agricultural markets and production hubs by constructing and maintaining rural road infrastructure.

He explained that this aligns with his plan to improve and strengthen the state’s financial and institutional development.

He announced N2.4 billion in counterpart funding for the project, which will strengthen the state’s political will and support institutional and legislative reforms.

The RAM project, delivered in partnership with the World Bank, covers six agro-logistic centres and has earned Bauchi recognition as one of six pilot states for rural road infrastructural development.

Governor Bala commended the federal government, the World Bank, and development partners for their support and assured the timely completion of the roads.

The event was attended by local government chairmen, stakeholders, and members of the public.
