Gov. Yahaya Breaks Fast with Lawmakers, Announces 114 New Healthcare Centres

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State hosted members of the State House of Assembly to an Iftar dinner, reinforcing the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative branches.

The governor hosted the lawmakers on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Government House, Gombe.

This is contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs) Government House, Gombe, on Friday.

According to Misili’s statement, during the event, the Governor announced plans to construct 114 new primary healthcare centres (PHCs) across the state.

Governor Yahaya highlighted the strong working relationship between his administration and the lawmakers, attributing the state’s progress over the past six years to their unwavering support.

“I am very proud of this 7th Assembly,” he stated. “We have no opposition when it comes to the development of Gombe State. You have consistently acted in the best interest of our people.”

He emphasised his commitment to leaving Gombe State in a better condition than he found it, calling for unity and a focus on development.

“We must put aside sentiments and embrace politics that focus on progress and service delivery,” he added.

Announcing the healthcare initiative, Governor Yahaya said, “To strengthen our health sector and bring quality healthcare closer to the people, we will construct 114 additional PHCs, one in each ward.”

He explained that this initiative aimed to ensure all citizens have access to essential health services.

In response, Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, praised the Governor’s leadership.

“Your Excellency, we are very proud of your leadership and your genuine passion for the development of Gombe State,” he said.

“We appreciate your contributions to our constituencies, and we assure you of our continued loyalty.”

The Speaker also commended the Governor’s Ramadan food palliative distribution, noting its positive impact on vulnerable citizens.

Chief of Staff Alhaji Abubakar Inuwa Kari welcomed the lawmakers, emphasising the Governor’s high regard for them and urging their continued support.

The event was attended by Deputy Governor Manassah Daniel Jatau, APC State Chairman Nitte K. Amangal, Secretary to the State Government Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, and other officials.
