Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State on February 10, 2025, commissioned several Nigerian Army projects at 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin.
The event was also attended by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Major General Obinna Onubogu.
“I express gratitude for the honour given to me to commission these projects,” Governor Abdulrazaq said, emphasising the importance of government support for the military.
“The funds appropriated by the government trickle down to the military, not just for weapons and equipment but also for infrastructure development, ensuring work efficiency.”
He commended the Nigerian Army for its continued efforts to maintain security in Kwara State and Nigeria.

GOC 2 Division, Major General Obinna Onubogu, expressed his appreciation for Governor Abdulrazaq’s support for the Nigerian Army in its operations.
“The vehicles and motorcycles received during the commissioning will be launched into ongoing operations in the state,” he said.
Major General Obinna Onubogu reiterated the Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) command philosophy, emphasising the commitment of 2 Division to work collaboratively with other security agencies to ensure the security of its Area of Responsibility.
Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Major General Oluwafemi Williams, commended his predecessors for their efforts in maintaining the Brigade complex.
He noted that the renovations, including the replacement of the old roof felting, were crucial for creating a conducive working environment for officers and soldiers.
“These are in order to give the Brigade complex a more befitting outlook and create a conducive working environment for officers and soldiers in the Brigade Headquarters (HQ),” Major General Williams said.
The projects commissioned included a newly built Quarter Guard, a remodelled Brigade complex, and the handover of three brand new Volkswagen Amarok pickup trucks and ten Bajaj motorcycles.
