Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has pledged to implement the recommendations of the Karim-Lamido Peace and Justice Commission, saying any proposal that supports lasting peace will be adopted.
The commitment came on Monday when the commission, led by Justice Silas Haruna, presented its report in Jalingo.
The panel, set up five months ago, investigated recent crises in Karim-Lamido and Bali LGAs.
Governor Kefas praised the commissionโs โthorough workโ and vowed that identified perpetrators of unrest will face action.
He also announced that the state will take full control of land management to curb recurring conflicts.
Justice Haruna revealed that the panel uncovered four major crises in Karim-Lamido, including the FulaniโBandawa, Munga DasoโMunga Lelau, WurkunโKarinjo, and Shomo/Usmanu conflicts, plus the TivโFulani crisis in Bali.
He urged the governor to issue a white paper for swift implementation, saying many problems stem from land disputes and poor access roads.
The Commission submitted three volumes of findings and recommendations, with Haruna thanking communities for their cooperation.
