Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved a 50% increase in monthly capitations to healthcare facilities, from N500 to N750 per life, and a 30% upward review of drug prices to account for inflation.
This move aims to enhance service delivery in hospitals and increase revenue for healthcare providers.
The new capitation rate is the highest paid by any state health insurance agency in the Northern Region.
The Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, announced the changes at the 6th GoHealth Provider Forum.
He emphasised the need for improved service delivery, warning that patients are now more aware of their rights and can take legal action against substandard care.
The State Drug Management Agency (GODMA) will offer waivers and discounts to GoHealth healthcare providers, resulting in a 20% profit margin for facilities.
Facility managers were urged to purchase drugs from GODMA to ensure better value for money.
The government warned that licenses may be revoked and prosecution may follow if facilities fail to provide quality medical care.
