This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs) Government House Gombe.

The summit, themed “Building a Safer and More Secure Gombe State: Addressing Insecurity through Collective Action,” is being held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Gombe.

Governor Yahaya announced the donation as a key component of his administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security and stability within the state.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance security in Gombe State, I am pleased to announce the donation of 50 operational vehicles to various security agencies operating within the state,” he stated.

“This gesture is aimed at bolstering their capacity to combat crime, ensure peace, and maintain stability across our communities.”

The vehicles were unveiled and symbolically presented to the benefitting agencies, demonstrating the governor’s commitment to providing tangible resources to those responsible for safeguarding the state.

The summit, designed to foster collaboration among key stakeholders, aims to develop actionable solutions to security challenges in Gombe and the wider North-East region.

Governor Yahaya emphasised that his administration will utilise the summit’s recommendations to create a blueprint for sustainable peace initiatives.

“Gombe State, though relatively stable, continues to face its own share of challenges,” Governor Yahaya acknowledged, citing farmer-herder clashes and emerging threats.

“To address these issues comprehensively, we must embrace collective action, requiring the cooperation of stakeholders at all levels.”

He also highlighted the importance of addressing the root causes of insecurity, including youth unemployment and drug abuse, and commended President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu for their national security efforts.

Major General Folusho Oyinola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, praised Governor Yahaya’s proactive approach to security, recognising Gombe as “one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.”

The summit featured presentations on the role of technology and community policing in enhancing security. Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), underscored the summit’s importance in strengthening state security.
