Governor Zulum Pledges Support for 2025 Hajj, NAHCON Secures 52,000 Slots

Borno State Governor, Professor Umara Zulum, paid a courtesy visit to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) headquarters in Abuja today, pledging his full support for the success of the 2025 Hajj. 

Governor Zulum committed to encouraging collaboration among North-East Governors and mobilizing support from the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to ensure timely Hajj fare payments for pilgrims.

Governor Zulum commended the NAHCON’s efforts in organizing the complex pilgrimage, acknowledging the challenges faced during the previous Hajj.

He specifically highlighted VIP management as an area needing improvement and suggested assigning competent personnel and ensuring equitable distribution of VIP spaces.

He also stressed the importance of early engagement with state governors to ensure seamless Hajj preparations and prevent misinformation. 

He expressed confidence in the success of the 2025 Hajj based on the preparations underway.

NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, welcomed Governor Zulum and provided updates on secured pilgrim spaces, including those for Private Tour Operators. He assured the Governor that Hajj preparations are well advanced.

NAHCON’s Commissioner of Operations, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, thanked Governor Zulum for his visit and acknowledged his support.

He also announced that NAHCON has engaged Umzah Airlines, among other approved carriers, to support the growth of indigenous airlines.
