The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man allegedly involved in trafficking young girls from the state to Ghana for sexual exploitation.
The development was announced in a statement signed on 13 November 2025 by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
According to the statement, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) acted on โreliable and credible informationโ to arrest the suspect, identified as Hamza Hammantukur Isa, a resident of Bauchi Street in Yola North.
Police said the suspect lured victims with false promises of lucrative job opportunities in Ghana. Two female victims, aged 18 and 19, were rescued during the operation.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect has been involved in trafficking since 2023 and confessed to having moved at least 10 girls to Ghana with the help of two female accomplices, who are currently on the run.
โEfforts are in top gear to trace and arrest the collaborators of this crime for discreet investigation, diligent prosecution and the possible rescue of other victims,โ the statement added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the SID operatives for their swift action and reaffirmed the Commandโs commitment to safeguarding residents. He assured that the suspect and all accomplices will be prosecuted.
