Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating unequivocally that he remains a loyal member of the party.

In a press statement released on Thursday, March 13, 2025, by his spokesman Malam Garba Shehu, Buhari affirmed his dedication to the APC, clarifying his position amidst ongoing discussions within the party.

“I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as such,” Buhari stated. 

“I will try to popularise the party by all means.”

Without referencing specific individuals, issues, or ongoing discussions within the party, Buhari emphasised his desire to be recognised as a loyal APC member.

He stressed that he would “never turn his back” on the party that provided him with two terms in office and pledged to do everything possible to promote its popularity.

“At present, I have nothing but gratitude for the support that the party gave me before and during my tenure as president, which I consider as the highest honour, and I would never ask for anything more,” Buhari added.

He highlighted the sacrifices made by the APC’s founding members to establish a strong party and safeguard the constitution and democratic governance.

“The pains taken by the founding fathers to establish a strong party to protect our constitution and democracy as a system of government are worthy sacrifices that should be cherished and nurtured,” he concluded.
