IGP Decorates 39 Senior Officers, Charges Them on Positive Reforms

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, alongside other dignitaries, decorated 20 newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 19 Commissioners of Police (CPs) with their new ranks.

The ceremony was held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

The promotion, approved by the Police Service Commission at the IGP’s request, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the Force’s operational effectiveness.

The newly decorated AIGs include Fasuba Olabode, Musibau Ajani, Aliyu Abubakar, Patrick Adedeji Atayero, Gyogon Grimah, Olaiya Victor Mobolaji, Chukwudi Ariekpere, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Olaolu Adegbite, Godwin Eze, Disu Olatunji Rilwan, Alausa Tolani, Kareem Musa, Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, Dan-Mamman Shawulu, Clement Robert, Musa Auwal Mohammed, Thomas Abraham Nabhoni, Abel Jangnap Zwalchir, and Ifeanyi Uka.

The promoted Commissioners of Police are Usman Tahir, Sunday Okoebor, Ayodeji Faniyan, Saka Adewale Ajao, Omole Ola, Hope Okafor, Ajo Geofrey Oroue, Olufunke Ogunbode, Stephen Ogedengbe, Iyabode Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, Adebowale Lawal, Ojo Adekimi, Yemi Oyeniyi, Obasi Okereke, Moses Ottah, Felix Nnebue, Gazali Abdulsalam, Fidelis Ogarabe, and Olubode Ojajuni.

The event was attended by notable figures, including former Senate President David Mark, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (represented by Dr Ayodele Ogunsan), former Ekiti State Governor Otunba Niyi Adebayo, former Akwa-Ibom House of Assembly Speaker Onofiok Luke, members of the Force Management Team, serving and retired senior police officers, and families of the promoted officers.

IGP Egbetokun congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to adopt a strategic and progressive approach to policing.

He also urged them to effectively propagate the ongoing positive reforms aimed at enhancing the Force’s operational effectiveness.

“These promotions are a recognition of your hard work and dedication,” the IGP stated.

“I urge you to embrace the ongoing reforms and contribute to building a more efficient and effective police force.”
