Jere Youth Sport Initiative Organise 5-Aside Football Competition Honouring Satomi’s Legacy

The Youths Sports Initiative in Jere Local Government has organised a five-aside football competition, tagged “Renewed Hope Five Aside,”  in honour of Honourable Engineer Ahmed Satomi, a member representing Jere Federal Constituency.
 
The competition, which features 16 teams from the local government area, divided into four groups (A-D), is being held at the Mashamari Ward FC Bakura Lawan Football Field.
 
According to Abdullahi Isa Awala, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, the competition aims to recognise Honourable Satomi’s efforts in engaging youths in the area and redirecting their attention away from drug abuse, indiscipline, and social vices.
 
“Sports is a way of uniting people together, especially youths,” Awala said. “Nowadays, football has become the language for all youths everywhere.” Awala said.
 
Spectators have expressed joy and happiness over the competition, which has provided them with entertainment every evening.
 
The opening ceremony saw FC Falala of Mashamari ward defeat FC Hon. Ba’akaka of Maimusari ward by two goals to one. Other matches include RC Lens versus Sector 8 FC and Maimusari Old Stars against FC Falala.
 
The competition has been peaceful, with no interruptions or crises, showcasing the cooperation and discipline among the youths in the community.

The final match is expected to be played before the end of August 2024.
