The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission (PCACC) has sought collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to enhance its anti-corruption efforts.
A delegation from the PCACC, led by Chairman Salisu Abdu, visited the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, February 6, 2025, to explore avenues for cooperation.
“The purpose of the courtesy visit is to identify areas where the PCACC Jigawa State can collaborate with the EFCC,” Mr. Abdu stated.
“One of the key areas is investigation. We need the opportunity to learn from the EFCC’s expertise in investigating anti-corruption cases.”
Mr. Abdu also highlighted the importance of information sharing and training opportunities. “We can share information that may assist the EFCC in its investigative activities,” he said.
“We also believe that we can benefit from the EFCC’s training programs to enhance our investigative and prosecutorial capabilities.”
Welcoming the delegation, EFCC Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede expressed his support for the PCACC’s efforts. “The more we are in this particular space, the less challenging the problem becomes,” Mr. Olukoyede said.
“If you at the state level are able to handle the MDAs there, and make sure that you monitor the government’s spending, it would make the work easier for us at the federal level.”
Mr. Olukoyede emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and focusing on serving the public interest. “You probably will be the most vilified person in your state because you are ready to do the right thing,” he cautioned.
“But never mind, just let your conscience be clear towards men and towards God and towards the mandate that you have been given.”
He urged the PCACC to focus on assisting the Jigawa State government in increasing its internally generated revenue by identifying and addressing areas of corruption within government agencies.
