Kano State has achieved a major milestone in Nigeria’s 2025 Subnational Climate Governance Performance Ranking, rising from 35th position last year to an impressive 4th place, one of the steepest improvements ever recorded by any state.

The development was announced on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, the remarkable progress reflects the visionary leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who has made environmental sustainability and climate resilience key priorities of his administration.
