Kano Governor Signs Gaya Polytechnic Bill into Law

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, signed the bill establishing Gaya Polytechnic into law, marking a significant step to boost technical and vocational education access across the state. 

The development was confirmed on Friday, November 14, 2025, in a statement by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director General of Media and Publicity for Kano Government House.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the Government House, saw the Governor flanked by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, and the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Butubutu, who jointly presented the bill.

Governor Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the smooth legislative process and emphasized the new institution’s role in creating opportunities for skills acquisition.

โ€œThe establishment of Gaya Polytechnic will create new opportunities for our young people to acquire practical skills and technical knowledge essential for economic development,โ€ the Governor stated, adding that it aligns with his administrationโ€™s commitment to strengthening the education sector.

Dawakin Tofa noted that the institution will contribute significantly to job creation and socio-economic growth, providing accessible and affordable education while boosting local economies in Gaya and its environs.
