Police in Kano State have arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered two pistols and 23 rounds of live ammunition during intelligence-led operations in the state.
The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, acting on credible intelligence, according to a statement issued on Jan. 9, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
One of the suspects, Isyaku Maude, 37, also known as โDan Sokotoโ, was arrested in Bachirawa Quarters and allegedly confessed to participating in several armed robberies within the Kano metropolis, police said.
Further investigations led to the arrest of two othersโSahabi Danladi, 20, and Najib Ibrahim, 32โboth residents of Kano.
Police recovered a Beretta pistol, a locally fabricated pistol and 23 rounds of 9mm ammunition from the suspects.
Bakori commended the officers involved and urged residents to continue supporting the police by reporting suspicious activities, the statement said. Investigations are ongoing.
