Kano Police Arrest 6 Suspected Thieves, Recover Stolen Phones, Tricycles

The Kano State Police Command has arrested six suspected mobile phone thieves operating within Kano Metropolis.ย

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement, revealed that the arrests were made between January 11th and 15th, 2025, by a team of police operatives attached to the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department.

“This achievement was made possible through credible information received and intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts and black spots within Kano Metropolis,” the statement read.

The arrested suspects, identified as Bashir Isah, Isyaku Bala, Mudansir Ayuba, Muzambil Abdullahi, Ibrahim Mohammed, and Hassan Sagir, confessed to specialising in stealing mobile phones while posing as tricycle riders.ย

The police recovered two operational tricycles and fifteen stolen mobile phones during the operation.

“The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, commended the officers and men involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication,” the statement added.

“He also appreciates the cooperation and support of the public, which led to these successes.”

Commissioner Garba warned that the Command will continue to crack down on all forms of criminality in the State, including mobile phone theft, armed robbery, and thuggery.ย
