The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has expressed the commitment of the state police command to collaborate with the Kano State Taskforce Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation.

This is contained in a statement issued by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Friday, March 21, 2025.
The pledge was made during a meeting on Friday when the Commissioner received members of the committee, led by its Chairman, Dr Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, who also serves as the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation in Kano State.
The delegation’s visit aimed to formally introduce themselves to the new police commissioner and to affirm their readiness for joint efforts in enhancing the safety and security of all residents within Kano State.
Dr Kofar Mata highlighted the committee’s recent achievements, which include the significant arrest and prosecution of individuals involved in thuggery, locally known as “Fadan Daba”, and drug abuse (“Kwaya”).
He also reported the successful recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs valued at millions of naira.
Addressing the Commissioner of Police, Dr Kofar Mata requested the full support and cooperation of the Police Command in enabling the task force to effectively carry out its designated responsibilities.
“The purpose of our visit today is twofold: first, to become acquainted with the new Commissioner of Police, and second, to assure him of our unwavering commitment to work in synergy to ensure the security of lives and properties for every citizen in Kano State,” stated Dr Kofar Mata.
He further added, “We have made considerable strides in combating thuggery and drug abuse, including the arrest of high-profile suspects and the seizure of dangerous weapons and drugs worth millions.”
In response, CP Bakori warmly welcomed the committee members and lauded the Kano State Government for establishing the proactive initiative.
Emphasising the critical role of proactive policing strategies and collaborative partnerships in maintaining law and order within the state, the commissioner assured the committee of the police command’s full support and cooperation.
“I commend the Kano State Government for this vital initiative, and I want to assure the Taskforce Committee that the Kano State Police Command is fully committed to working alongside you. Proactive policing and strong collaboration are essential in ensuring the peace and prosperity of our state,” CP Bakori remarked.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both the Police Command and the Taskforce Committee reaffirming their dedication to working in concert to foster a peaceful and prosperous environment for the people of Kano State.
