The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has ordered intensified security measures across the state to counter potential security threats during the upcoming Hamattan season.
The commissioner convened this order during a strategic meeting with operational commanders on Friday.
SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police public relations officer, explained that CP Garba expressed concerns over the challenges posed by the dry and dusty weather conditions, which often led to increased accidents, fire outbreaks, and other security risks.

“We must be proactive in our approach to ensure the safety and security of all residents,” CP Garba stated.
“This includes robust visibility patrols, increased intelligence gathering, and effective community engagement.”
To address potential farmer-herder clashes, the Commissioner directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to organise meetings with relevant stakeholders to foster dialogue and understanding.
“We are committed to maintaining law and order in the state,” CP Garba added. “We urge the public to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through our official social media channels.”
The commissioner reiterated the importance of professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights among police officers.
He encouraged the public to utilise the NPF Rescue Me app or contact the police through the provided phone numbers in case of emergencies.
