The Kano State Police Command has engaged with social media influencers on the importance of responsible content creation, emphasizing its role in promoting inter-ethnic harmony and national unity.
The engagement took place during a two-day seminar organized by the Social Media Awareness and Promotion Development Association (SMAPDA) held in Kano.
SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, representing the Commissioner of Police, commended the influencers for their contributions to peace and stability.
He cautioned them against spreading fake news, hate speech, and negative content.
“He urged them to promote peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and understanding among different ethnic groups,” a statement from the Kano State Police Command said.
The Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and properties, and promoting community-oriented policing.
It encouraged the public, particularly social media influencers, to support the police in ensuring a safe and secure environment.
The seminar, attended by influencers with a combined following of over 50 million, scholars, community leaders, and stakeholders, discussed social media’s role in national development.
