The Kano State Police Command today formally handed over two suspects and a massive consignment of suspected illicit Tramadol, valued at over ₦150 million, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
The suspects, Muntari Shu’aibu, 28, and Imrana Rabi’u, 25, were apprehended by the police during an intelligence-led sting operation. They were caught in possession of six bales (cartons) of the prohibited drug.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, highlighted the successful operation as a significant step in curbing drug trafficking, a major enabler of violent crimes in the state.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, CP Bakori emphasised the Command’s commitment to working with other security agencies in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s policy on inclusive policing and inter-agency synergy.
“Today marks a crucial step in our collective fight against drug trafficking and abuse in Kano State,” CP Bakori stated.
“We are pleased to hand over these suspects and the substantial exhibits to the NDLEA, the agency with the statutory mandate to handle such cases. This collaboration underscores our unified resolve to rid our communities of these harmful substances.”
The handover included the two arrested individuals and the six bales of Tramadol, estimated to be worth over ₦150 million.
The police emphasised that the operation was a direct result of intelligence gathering and their proactive efforts to combat drug-related crimes.
CP Bakori reiterated the importance of public support and urged citizens to continue providing valuable information on suspicious activities.
He provided contact numbers (0803 241 9754, 0812 382 1575, 0902 929 2926) for reporting drug-related information.
The NDLEA Kano Command received the suspects and the exhibits, acknowledging the successful operation by the police.
