The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of 78 suspects for various offences, including armed robbery, drug dealing, and thuggery, between April 23rd and May 9th, 2025.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, revealed this during a press briefing at the Bompai Police Headquarters on Friday.

According to CP Bakori, the arrests and recoveries are a result of the Command’s streamlined crime-fighting strategies, which include increased patrols, community policing, intelligence-led raids, and continuous training for officers.

“As a result of these strategic measures, tremendous successes have been recorded,” stated CP Bakori.
“These achievements are testaments to the fact that the above strategies are a masterpiece in crime fighting and have helped to confront the triggers of crimes – particularly drug trafficking and abuse – head-on.”

The recovered items include two Beretta pistols with ammunition, various quantities of illicit drugs such as pregabalin, diazepam, tramadol, codeine, and cannabis sativa; eight vehicles; three tricycles; two motorcycles; several dangerous weapons; counterfeit currencies (both Naira and US dollars); mobile phones; livestock; and other stolen properties.

Notably, the police rearrested a notorious drug dealer, Sulaiman Danwawu, who was previously apprehended in 2022 for a similar offence.
They also recovered a large consignment of pentazocine injections worth ₦1.5 million and apprehended a suspected armed robber in possession of two pistols.
“I want to assure you that the Kano State Police Command will remain resolute and steadfast in ensuring that peace continues to prevail in the state,” CP Bakori affirmed.

He also urged the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing valuable information to aid in addressing potential security threats.
