The Kwara State Government has approved a revised 2024 Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for doctors, aimed at improving the retention of skilled medical personnel in the state’s health sector.
Dr Abdulraheem Malik, Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KWHMB), announced this during a press briefing in Ilorin, where he discussed the boardโs recent activities.
Dr Malik stated that the revised policy is designed to address the issue of brain drain and attract medical professionals back to Kwaraโs healthcare system.
He outlined the KWHMBโs vision of becoming a leading provider of high-quality secondary healthcare services across the state.
โThe Board aims to develop a healthcare system where every citizen enjoys equitable access to timely, effective, and preventive care through innovation, strategic planning, and a strong sense of accountability,โ he said.
Dr Malik also highlighted the governmentโs commitment to climate-smart healthcare solutions, including the adoption of renewable energy sources and sustainable water systems. Solar power installations have already been implemented at several hospitals and facilities across the state.
He furthemphasisedzed that a key priority of the government is the continuous capacity building and professional training of healthcare workers across the state.
