A 22-year-old man, Muhammed Mustapha, has been arrested for the kidnapping and murder of his 8-year-old cousin, Muhammed Auwal, in Madina Ward, Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to a release issued by the Adamawa State Police Command, the gruesome incident occurred on July 25, 2024. Mustapha allegedly kidnapped his young cousin, demanding a ransom of N2.8 million.

Tragically, before the ransom could be paid, the suspect intoxicated the child and strangled him to death.

Following a report by the victim’s father and the suspect’s uncle, Harris Muhammed, detectives from the Adamawa State Intelligence Department apprehended Mustapha on July 27, 2024.

The suspect has confessed to the crime but claimed to have been under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has vowed to ensure the suspect faces the full weight of the law.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police promptly.
