Man Stabs Grandparents to Death over Food Quarrel in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Mutawakilu Ibrahim, for allegedly stabbing his grandparents to death during a quarrel over food.

Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said in a statement on Thursday that the incident occurred at Kofar Dawanau Quarters and was reported at Dala Divisional Police Headquarters around 9:30 a.m.

โ€œThe suspect had a misunderstanding with his grandparents, Muhammad Dansokoto, 75, and Hadiza Tasidi, 65, during which he attacked them with a knife, causing severe injuries,โ€ Kiyawa said.

The victims were taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where doctors confirmed them dead. Their bodies were later released to relatives for burial in line with Islamic rites.

Kiyawa added that the suspect, believed to have been under the influence of intoxicants, has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Departmentโ€™s Homicide Section on the orders of Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

โ€œThe suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,โ€ he said.
