The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended several suspects in connection with a case of alleged criminal conspiracy, adultery, causing miscarriage, and culpable homicide.
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the incident occurred around 9:00 am on April 4, 2025.
The release stated that “information received from a reliable source revealed that, sometime about four (4) months ago, the following suspects…lured one female (name withheld), aged 18 years.”
The principal suspects were identified as:
- Usman Umar, 22 years old, from the Fawari area of Misau.
- Sallau Ayuba, 21 years old, from the Lariski area of Misau.
- Abubakar Mohammed, 35 years old, a year two student of A.D. Rufai College for Islamic and Legal Studies, Misau.

The police report detailed that the first and second suspects allegedly “had sexual intercourse with her on different occasions at different places, including Mahmood Lodge, situated within Misau town”, which led to the victim’s pregnancy.
“On noticing the pregnancy, the two (2) defendants invited the third defendant (Abubakar Mohammed),” the statement continued.
“They offered him forty thousand nairas (โฆ40,000) to inject the pregnant victim and cause an abortion.”
Tragically, the injection led to severe complications. “After the injection, the victim lost herself and became seriously sick, which caused the victim’s family to take her to the General Hospital Misau,” the PPRO narrated.
“She was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Azare for further medical treatment. Subsequently, she was announced and certified dead by the hospital authorities while receiving treatment.”
Following the report, police swung into action. “On receipt of the report, the suspects were arrested and confessed to their inglorious act,” CSP Wakil said, adding that they also mentioned other accomplices.
The other individuals, who are currently under investigation at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Misau, were named as:
- Alkali Kawu
- Maule Mai ride
- Mai tomatoes
- Danguli
- Yakubu
- Kura (a civil servant)…and four (4) others.
The Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring justice.
“The Command reaffirms its commitment and steadfastness in carrying out its statutory responsibility to ensure justice is served accordingly,” the PPRO stated.
“The investigation is ongoing. After that, the suspects will be profiled and charged to court for the established offences accordingly.”
