The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has called upon Christian mothers across Nigeria to take decisive action in promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and family well-being as they celebrate Mothering Sunday.
Highlighting the pivotal role of mothers in shaping families and communities, the minister described their love as “selfless, resilient, and unwavering.” She emphasised,
“From the cradle to adulthood, mothers nurture, guide, and instil the virtues of faith, integrity, and service.”
Sulaiman-Ibrahim urged Christian mothers to embrace the theme of this year’s celebration, “Accelerate Action”, by assuming leadership roles within their communities, advocating for the rights of women and children, and fostering economic empowerment through entrepreneurship.
She underscored that women’s contributions extend beyond caregiving, asserting that their voices and actions are powerful catalysts for meaningful change.
“Now is the time to accelerate action in ensuring a safer, healthier, and more equitable Nigeria for women and children,” she stated.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the minister assured that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs is dedicated to implementing policies and programmes that empower mothers, protect their rights, and create opportunities for their advancement.
She encouraged Christian mothers to remain steadfast in their faith and continue to lead with love, wisdom, and strength. “May God bless and reward you abundantly for all you do,” she said.
Concluding her message, the minister extended her best wishes, saying, “Happy Mothering Sunday! Long live Nigerian women! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
