The Borno State Police Command has reiterated the ongoing ban on the use of motorcycles, particularly electric bikes, in the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Police Public Relations Officer, said the ongoing ban on the use of motorcycles, particularly electric bikes, within the state.
Following a thorough assessment of the prevailing security situation, the Borno State Security Council deemed it necessary to enforce this restriction to safeguard the lives and property of residents.
The Command warns that anyone found in possession or operating a motorcycle, whether powered by petrol or electricity, will be apprehended and prosecuted.
Filling stations are also advised to strictly adhere to the ban by refraining from selling petrol to motorcycle riders. Any filling station found violating this directive will face sanctions, including closure and legal action.
Delivery and logistics companies are encouraged to utilize tricycles (Keke Napep) for their operations within the state as an alternative mode of transportation.
The Borno State Police Command appeals to the public to cooperate with the authorities in ensuring the sustained peace and security of the state.
