The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down a warehouse in Kaduna, confiscating N75 million worth of expired food and cosmetic products.

Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, NAFDAC officials raided the warehouse, located on PP2A Bayajidda Street near Kano Road.

The agency’s investigation team discovered a significant amount of expired goods, including biscuits, dairy products, vegetable oil, soft drinks, and detergents.

“During the operation, workers were even seen transferring expired biscuits from their original packaging into sacks, a clear attempt to repackage and conceal the substandard products,” said Shaba Muhammed, NAFDAC’s director of investigation and enforcement.

The warehouse manager was arrested for questioning, and Muhammed emphasised that NAFDAC will pursue severe penalties after completing its investigation.

This action serves as a warning to others involved in the sale of expired goods.

NAFDAC is urging the public to be vigilant when purchasing regulated products and to report any suspicious activity to their nearest NAFDAC office.
