The Nasarawa State Police Command, in a joint operation with the military and local vigilantes, has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered 34 rustled cows.
According to a statement released by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Nasarawa State Command, the operation followed intelligence reports of an armed robbery attack on a farm in the state, where the security guard was injured and a number of cows were stolen.
“Upon receiving this information, police operatives, in collaboration with the military and vigilantes, swiftly mobilized to the scene,” the statement said.
“The injured security guard was rescued and taken to a hospital for medical treatment, and a manhunt for the criminals was immediately launched.”
The relentless pursuit led to the interception of the suspects in the Akun Forest, Nasarawa Eggon, where a gunfight ensued. Two suspects were apprehended after sustaining injuries.
Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed commended the collaborative efforts of the security agencies and expressed gratitude to the vigilantes for their invaluable support.
“This successful operation is a testament to the strength of our combined efforts,” said Commissioner Mohammed.
“I urge all security agencies and stakeholders to continue working together to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.”
