Nasarawa Police Seeks Public Help For 2 Abandoned Children

The Nasarawa State Police are urgently seeking public assistance to identify the families of two young girls found abandoned near Mararaba Junction on Tuesday evening.

The children, identified as Fatima Isah, aged 10, and Halima Isah, aged 8, were discovered wandering in Ungwan Gwandara, Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area, at approximately 5:00 PM.

A concerned resident alerted the authorities, prompting a swift response from police operatives who safely recovered the girls and brought them to Mararaba ‘B’ Division.

During interviews, the children revealed a distressing account of their ordeal.

They stated they were taken from Kasuwan Bera, Jalingo, Taraba State, by an unidentified driver and subsequently abandoned in Mararaba.

“We were deeply concerned to receive this report of abandoned children,” stated SP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer for the Nasarawa State Command. 

“The safety and well-being of these young girls is our utmost priority. We are working diligently to trace their families and reunite them as quickly as possible.”

Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has issued a direct appeal to the public for information.

“We urge anyone who recognises these children, or who has any information regarding their family or the circumstances of their transportation, to come forward immediately,” he said. 

“Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be crucial in helping us reunite these girls with their loved ones.”

The commissioner emphasised the urgency of the situation, stating, “It is vital that we act quickly to ensure the welfare of Fatima and Halima. We are relying on the support of the community to help us resolve this matter.”
