Nasarawa United have secured their place in the round of 32 of the 2025 President Federation Cup, defeating Flight FC of Gboko with a convincing 2-0 victory.
The match, held at the Jos International Stadium in Plateau State on Wednesday, saw the Solid Miners dominate proceedings.
Ugochukwu Leonard, making his return to Nasarawa United, opened the scoring in the 6th minute, capitalising on a precise through ball from John Joshua.
Just eleven minutes later, Kabir Balogun doubled the lead with a stunning set-piece finish, sending the ball past the Flight FC goalkeeper.

“We came here with a clear objective, and the players delivered,” said a jubilant Solomon Babanjah, Chairman of Nasarawa United FC.
“This victory is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”
The second half saw no change to the scoreline, with Nasarawa United comfortably controlling the game and securing their passage to the next round.
The victory was witnessed by a high-profile delegation from Nasarawa State, led by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu. Former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa, Professor Onje Gye-wado, and the Chief Whip and Member representing the Akwanga North Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Larry Ven-Bawa, were also present to motivate the team.
“The support from the state government has been incredible,” Babanjah acknowledged. “It means a lot to the players and the entire club.”
Nasarawa United will now await the outcome of the match between Ijele FC of Enugu and Lautau FC of Jigawa to determine their round of 32 opponents.
The Solid Miners have a history of success in the Federation Cup, having finished as runners-up twice, in 2016 and 2021.
Looking ahead, Nasarawa United will return to Lafia for a crucial league clash against defending champions, Rangers International FC, at the Lafia City Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025.
