The Nigerian Dental Association (NDA) has offered free healthcare services to more than 500 residents of Maiduguri Metropolis Council, the state capital.

Borno State Secretary (NMA), Dr Abubakar Kaka Sanda, disclosed this during a dental outreach organised by NDA Borno State Chapter at Brig General Abba Kyari General Hospital Garnam, Maiduguri.

Dr Sanda noted that it was part of the activities to mark this year’s World Oral Health Day Celebration, underscoring the importance of oral health, oral health education, access and championing of health equity amongst the populace.

He said the medical outreach bridges many gaps, as it provides free medical services, consultation, screening and treatment to those who need them most.

He said, “As part of efforts to support the populace in need of such services in Bolori ward, Maiduguri. We attended to over 500 individuals who benefitted from free medical services,” Sanda disclosed.

Dr Sanda, while appreciating the Nigerian Dental Association, Borno State, emphasises the need for early checks and strongly advocates for health equity amongst the populace.

He urged for continuous support of such collaboration and synergy to achieve a greater percentage of the underserved community.

Theย  District Head of Bolori Ward 2, Abba Yusuf Abba Masta Ibrahim, Wadaima Of Borno, described the intervention as laudable.

He said the importance of the medical outreach cannot be overstated, as many residents faced challenges in accessing quality healthcare due to financial constraints, and lack of awareness.

โ€œThis initiative underscores the NDA’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and quality in our community.

โ€œThe importance of this medical outreach cannot be overstated,” he stated.
