The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported a noteworthy arrest in Bauchi state as part of a larger, nationwide operation against drug trafficking.
This is contained in a statement released by Femi Babafemi Director, Media & Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters Abuja on Sunday 5th May 2024.
The statement explained that, during a patrol along the Bauchi-Jos road on April 29th, NDLEA operatives arrested Clement Chukwuka, a 39-year-old individual.
Chukwuka was found in possession of a significant amount of illegal substances, including 595 bottles of codeine and a staggering 38,260 pills of various opioids, including tramadol, rohypnol, and diazepam.
This arrest in Bauchi reflects the NDLEA’s ongoing commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks throughout Nigeria.
In addition to the Bauchi arrest, NDLEA operations across the country have resulted in the dismantling of an international drug syndicate, the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis hidden in a gas tanker in Abuja, and the apprehension of several other suspects.
While commending officers involved in these successful operations, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), highlighted the agency’s commitment to raising public awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
This includes ongoing efforts to promote the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) through lectures across the country.
