The Borno State Government has announced plans to revive sporting activities across all local government areas in the state to promote youth participation and social cohesion.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment, Sports, and Poverty Alleviation, Saina Buba, aims to foster social cohesion and sportsmanship among the younger generation.
Hon. Buba made the announcement on Sunday, while representing Governor Babagana Umara Zulum at the Ndume Unity Cup Finals held at Biu Township Stadium.
He commended Senator Ndume for initiating the tournament and pledged the government’s support for future events.
The Commissioner further announced the revival of teams like Biu United, which is expected to encourage sports participation, foster healthy competition, and provide a platform for young talents to shine.
The Ndume Unity Cup Finals saw Kwaya Kusar defeat Hawul 1-0, marking a significant step towards the revival of sports in Borno State and promoting unity among its citizens.
The finals were attended by dignitaries, including members of the Borno State House of Assembly from Southern Borno, special advisers, and senior special assistants.
