In a heartwarming display of generosity, the Maiduguri Orphan Care Foundation (MOCAF), a non-governmental organisation, distributed Sallah clothing to 2,000 orphans and provided essential foodstuffs and wrappers to 150 widows in Borno State.

The initiative aims to bring joy and support to vulnerable groups during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

The distribution event, held on Saturday at the Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies (MOGCOLIS) in Maiduguri, was officially launched by the Deputy Provost of MOGCOLIS, Dr Muhammad Usman Muhammad.

Speaking at the occasion, the MOCAF Coordinator, Dr Idris Abubakar, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the initiative.

He extended his sincere gratitude to the North East Development Commission, the Borno State First Lady, Her Excellency Dr Falmata Babagana Umar Zulum, and other compassionate individuals whose contributions made the project a resounding success.

“We are immensely pleased with the successful distribution of Sallah clothing to these deserving orphans and the provision of essential support to the widows. This initiative would not have been possible without the generous support of the North East Development Commission, Her Excellency the First Lady, and numerous other kind-hearted individuals,” Dr Abubakar stated.

The Chairperson of MOCAF, Dr Laraba Ahmed Bello, echoed these sentiments, expressing her deep appreciation to the foundation’s partners and supporters.

She emphasised the significance of their contributions in bringing happiness and relief to orphans and widows during the blessed period of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Highlighting the importance of continued public support, the MOCAF Secretary, Hajja Muqaddam Bukar, urged the community to keep supporting orphans and widows, particularly those lacking basic necessities.

She emphasised that such acts of kindness align with the Islamic principle of Sadaqah Jariyah, which refers to continuous charity.
