The Borno State Police Command has received a significant boost in its investigative capabilities, courtesy of a generous donation from the Lake Chad Basin Support Framework.
ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State Police Command, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
The handover, which took place on March 17, 2025, included essential investigational assets, further solidifying the partnership between the organisation and the police force.
The donation comprised a digital camera, 500 complete case files, 1000 statement forms, and other crucial items, all aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the Borno State Police Command.
Representatives of the Lake Chad Basin Support Framework, Queen Elizabeth Macleod (Sarauniya) and Kevin Hurley, made the presentation.
“This donation is a testament to our ongoing commitment to supporting the Borno State Police Command,” stated Queen Elizabeth Macleod. “We recognise the vital role they play in maintaining law and order in this challenging environment.”
Over the years, the Lake Chad Basin Support Framework has played a pivotal role in strengthening the capacity of the command, particularly in areas such as sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), professionalism, and the establishment of functional gender desks across all 38 police divisions in Borno State.
“The support we have received from the Lake Chad Basin Support Framework has been invaluable,” said Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal.
“Their contributions have significantly enhanced our ability to serve the people of Borno State.”
CP Lawal, speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the organisation’s unwavering support, assuring them that the donated items would be used judiciously to further the command’s investigative and operational objectives.
“We are deeply grateful for this donation,” CP Lawal emphasised.
“These items will be instrumental in our efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of our communities.”
The donation also marked a farewell from the NGO that has been working in the area for many years.
The statement confirmed that the force will continue to work to provide the best service it can to the people of Borno State.
