Niger Gov’t Adopts Fresh Measures to Crash Food Prices

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has revealed that the state has adopted fresh measures to crash the prices of food items in the market.

According to a statement by the Governors’ media team on Saturday, Bago stated this during an engagement with stakeholders at the Government House, Minna.

The stakeholders included the State Imam Forum, NLC Leadership, Local Government Council Chairmen, Secretaries of the state’s eight Emirates, and Representatives of the All Progressives Congress and Market Associations.

“The measures include the sale of one thousand trucks of food items to the public at a fifty percent market price reduction, while five hundred trucks of assorted food items will be given to the less privileged free of charge,” Governor Bago said.

These measures follow a bumper harvest from the agricultural initiatives embarked upon by the state government.
