Governors from Nigeria’s North-East region have converged in Jalingo, Taraba State, for their 12th Forum Meeting, with a primary resolution to strengthen regional unity and address shared challenges.
The governors were hosted by Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas at a dinner and gala night on Friday ahead of their formal meeting.
The Chairman of the North-East Governorsโ Forum, Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, expressed gratitude for the hospitality.
“This eveningโs cultural display and the spirit of camaraderie have perfectly set the tone for what we anticipate will be a highly productive meeting,” Zulum said.
He noted that the agenda would focus on strengthening unity and addressing pressing issues like insecurity, poverty, and infrastructure deficits.
Earlier, Governor Kefas emphasised the importance of regional solidarity, stating that a “united front and a strong bond of brotherhood” are essential for tackling common challenges.
He added that the forum provides a platform to “develop collaborative strategies that will promote sustainable peace, accelerate development, and ensure shared prosperity.”
The meeting, which included governors from Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, and Yobe states, was scheduled to begin on Saturday morning at the Taraba State Government House.
