Troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have neutralised dozens of terrorists in a coordinated air and ground assault in the Gando Forest of Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
The strike, which took place on August 10, 2025, foiled a planned reprisal attack on two farming communities.
According to a press release from Captain David Adwusi, Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, on Monday, August 11, 2025, the operation followed credible intelligence that a large number of terrorists loyal to the late Halilu Buzu and Alhaji Beti had gathered in the forest.
They were reportedly planning to attack the Adabka and Nasarawan Burkullu farming communities to avenge recent defeats in clashes with security forces.
Following the air strike, ground troops intercepted and eliminated fleeing terrorists attempting to escape the aerial bombardment.
OPFY assured residents that terrorists “will find no hiding place in the Northwestand parts of the North Central Zone.”
The operation urged law-abiding citizens to report any suspicious activities immediately, stating that “timely information is key to protecting communities and ending the menace of terrorism and banditry.”
