PDP Elects New Leaders in North East Zonal Congress

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected new leaders in its North East zonal congress, held in Bauchi on Saturday. Alhaji Babangida Modibbo Umar from Adamawa state emerged as the new Zonal Vice Chairman.

The congress, attended by key party figures, including the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, and governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, and Taraba, saw all 22 positions of the Zonal Party leadership filled unopposed.

In his opening remarks, the outgoing Zonal Chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Bovoa MFR, appreciated the support of the party’s stakeholders and urged them to extend the same support to the newly elected leadership.

Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum described the peaceful conduct of the congress as a reflection of the party’s unity. “Similar congresses would be held across other geopolitical zones in preparation for the PDP National Convention,” he added.

Alhaji Babangida Modibbo Umar, who spoke on behalf of the newly elected officials, pledged to justify the trust placed in them and sought continuous support from party members.

Zonal Working Committee:

Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu (Secretary, Bauchi)
Alhaji Bello Jamare (Treasurer, Bauchi)
Zonal Ex-Officio:
Hon. Alpha Anthony (Adamawa)
Hon. Abdullahi Galadima (Bauchi)
National Zonal Ex-Officio:
Hon. Borto William (Adamawa)
Hon. Comfort Audu (Bauchi)

The newly elected officials are yet to receive their certificates of return and will be inaugurated into office on March 3, 2025.
