The Kano State Police Command has arrested six suspects and recovered three tricycles and five motorcycles in a series of coordinated operations by its Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
In a statement on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the breakthroughs were achieved under the directives of Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, as part of ongoing efforts to curb theft and other criminal activities in the state.
โThese achievements reflect the Commandโs unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Kano residents,โ SP Kiyawa said.
On October 14, 2025, police arrested Nura Ibrahim (44) of Zaria, Kaduna State, and Sunusi Bala (22) of Gusau, Zamfara State, after they allegedly attempted to steal a tricycle along Airport Road, Kano.
The suspects reportedly administered intoxicants to a tricycle rider before trying to escape with the vehicle.
They were caught by a mob, rescued by police officers, and taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for treatment.
Further investigation led to the recovery of two additional tricycles in Funtua, Katsina State, and the arrest of their accomplices, Bashir Muhd (46) and Sunusi Musa (48).

On October 10, 2025, CID operatives arrested Umar Isah (34) in Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, recovering three stolen motorcycles. The suspect confessed to receiving and selling stolen bikes.
Similarly, on October 15, 2025, a tip-off led to the arrest of Idris Isyaku (28) at Na’ibawa Flyover, where two suspected stolen motorcycles were seized.
Recovered items include three yellow TVs and Bajaj tricycles and five motorcycles of various makes and colours, including Boxer, UD, and Companion brands.
The police urged victims of tricycle or motorcycle theft to contact the Investigating Officer via 07010161372 or visit the Public Relations Office with proof of ownership.
CP Bakori commended the public for their cooperation and urged continued vigilance.
