The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested one John Gambo, a student of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, in connection with the murder of his fellow student, Ibrahim Matthew.

According to a statement by SP Ramhan Nansel, the incident occurred on February 6th, 2025, following a violent altercation between the two students at their residence.

“Upon receiving the report, the commissioner of police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately sent a team of detectives to the scene,” a police statement said.

The detectives found Ibrahim Matthew with fatal injuries and subsequently arrested John Gambo.

“The suspect confessed to violently attacking the deceased with both an axe and a knife,” the statement added.

Both the axe and the knife used in the attack were recovered as evidence.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
